Roaming Rome and Vatican City...

We went to Rome with Kevin's parents when they came to Greece for holiday. Rome (or Roma) is the capital of Italy. Rome's history as a city spans over two and a half thousand years, as one of the founding cities of Western Civilization. Lovely as it was... The streets, the fountains, the structures, the culture floods us...

Arriving in Rome and catching a train to town.

Entering a church in Rome... at Piazza Santa Maria Maggiore...

The grand interior..

Just look at those magnificent structures

A long hallway... sometimes just can't help wonder how they carved those images on the ceiling

The altar

A tall statue monument in town

The Colosseum!!! We're here!!!

The Colosseum, or Roman Coliseum, is an elliptical amphitheatre in the center of the city of Rome, Italy, the largest ever built in the Roman Empire.

It is one of the greatest works of Roman architecture and Roman engineering.

Entering the Colosseum...

WOW! Seeing it with my own eyes!

The floor plan of the 1st level of Colosseum!

Get a picture together!

Originally capable of seating around 50,000 spectators, the Colosseum was used for gladiatorial contests and public spectacles.

You got to see it with your own eyes to believe it man!

Marvellous!

Arriving at Vatican City...

See that driveway? It is the entrance into the Vatican City! But we couldn't go in without special reasons or permit...

But we can go to the St Peter's Church and the St Peter's square... follow me!

Ta-da... St Peter's Basilica. Apparently that day the Pope made an entrance to meet the people... we were late and didn't catch him making his speech... But... We saw him leaving! ahhahaha...
