Driving up to Olympia... where the Olympics all started...

We drove to Olympia (a sanctuary of ancient Greece in Elis)... which was really far... about 6 to 8 hours drive from Athens... depending on your speed and the route you take of course... ahahhaha... but it was all worth it... to be at where the Olympics games started... and until today, they still start the torch-litting from here!

Just before exposing you to the journey towards Olympia... just some casual shots we took at Rafina.. another port in Athens to depart for the islands...

Where the ship will dock... where our love embarks... :)

Alright, let's begin our drive... to Olympia...

A pose with the nice scenery in the background...

Nice colours of nature...

Diakofto... the track... with trains to Patra and Kalavryta...

Posing with some abandoned old train parts at the back...

Spring water!!!

Driving up... Chilly...

Nice views...

At the bend...

A monastery wedged onto the face of a cliff... Quite spectacular yah?!

See how the monastery is built within the hills... Amazing ah...

Pose!!!

Gong the bells! :)

Kalavryta town centre... They sell very good honey... hehehe... Greek honey!

Kalavryta town... shopping...

As we went during winter, check out the mountains!!! First time, we experience snowing! Woohoo!

Snow drops keep falling on my head... :)

Cold! We were not prepared.. but at least I had a thick jacket! hahahaha..

Hahaha, i don't know who build that snow man, but we just snap a shot with it... so funny... a carrot was even brought up the mountain to make the nose! hahahhah...

I fell down! hahahhahah... So nice... Hopefully we can come back the next winter for skiing.. :)

We went to this Caves and secretly took some shots of the formation on the interior of the caves and its formation...

Funny shapes... Interesting sights...

Kevin in the dark...

Look at the layering and erosion of the rocks..

Here we are now! Olympic games Museum!!! Check out the various torches used for the Olympics!!!

Where Olympics have been held in the past...

Passing it on...

Lighting the torch in the past...

Keep the flame going! Until today, they still light the torch from this spot (left picture) in the ancient site...

Long jump!

Athlete statue...

Discus used from the past...

Before we leave the museum... Pose!!!

Into the archaelogical site of Olympia...

The museum first! :) Yawn... sorry, too much museum for me in one day...

Different statues in the museum, depicting sports, athletes, and events...

A pool of animal figurines...

Olympia Ancient Site...

Explaining the Stadium...

Come on in! Entrance into the Stadium!!!

Kevin in the stadium corridor!

Wow! Big stadium!

View of Stadium from top...

Until today, the Olympic games will start to light the torch fromt his spot! :) This year, the torch was lighted here on 24th March 2008. Too bad, it was a Monday, if not, we will confirm be here to witness the event!

A hug against the skies and the site...

Pondering... Can i be an Olympic athlete in my next life??? Hmmm...

A pillar erected...

Rocks that fell behind me...

More fallen rocks...

Many pillars...

Left the site and drove on to this more modern theatre in a quiet part of town...

On top of the car... hahhaha.. it was a Saab...

Nice views of the mountains...

Sweet hug once again...

We passed by this other site... where the pillars were collapsing if the weather continues to be bad and it erodes the stones... Hence, it has to be completely sheltered under a big tent...

Kevin says cheezzeee!
Looking down... Outside the sheltered area...

Nice scenery...

And that is the name of the sheltered site: Temple of Apollo Epicurius...

That's all folks for this journey... :)
